This morning I was on my own, my husband off to a swap meet for classic cars. I thought about some of my favorite places to paint and decided it was time to visit Rosario State Park in Anacortes, WA. I loaded up my gear and welcomed the sunshine as predicted for this day thinking of which view might be most appealing at 10:00am. Much to my pleasure I walked to the shore using a different path and the scene was presented in perfection! I chose a log to sit on, listening to children playing nearby and began to set up. One youngster was nearby and curious, then suddenly a little chipmunk was spotted running my direction. I have always thought they were cute little creatures but didn't give him a second thought till he scurried up my leg and then jumped off toward his get away destination. It happened so fast I didn't have time to react, but then realized how it's the little things in life that bring such pleasure.

Out on Shaw Island there are lands owned by the University of Washington open to the public. There are places to walk along the shore and in the fields which are home to Eagles and other birds. This old shed was once part of a house and the situation of it between the trees has always captured my attention. I painted it twice, each one in a different style using a different technique to see what I liked. I also painted it from a slightly different location because a big bee kept after me and I finally had to move.
