My first visit to Sun Lakes State Park in Coulee City, WA occurred last Thursday. We arrived at the park in the afternoon just in time to set up and experience a wonderful thunderstorm complete with lightning and hail! Wow, the storm was thrilling, nothing compared to what we get on the west side of the mountains. Friday morning after coffee I put on my back pack and went out under the clear morning skies to find subject matter to paint. There was certainly no lack of material but I finally settled on one or two view to paint. Saturday I was successful in painting one piece before we left the camp and headed back toward the west.
Grand Coulee Dam and gorge is a one time wonder of the world; there is no other place like it in existence. Created millions of years ago by the build up of and melting of ice, this topography is incredibly beautiful. Dry Falls is a the main attraction for many people.
